“In years when Mother Nature cooperates, we make a small volume Noble Pinot Gris from our Matapiro Vineyard. We leave a small block of very ripe Pinot Gris on the vine and if conditions are favourable, botrytis infects the grape producing much sought after ‘Noble Rot’. This ‘raisins’ the berry, taking out water and concentrating sugar and ripe fruit flavours. Once pressed, these grapes yield a very small volume of nectar-like juice, producing sweet wines of exceptional concentration.”

TASTING NOTES
AROMAS
Citrus zest and subtle smoke are tempered by flavours of dried apricot, caramel, vanilla, honey and sweet-sour tamarind.
BODY
This Pinot Gris has the heft and syrupy texture of a fortified wine, with the acidity of a Riesling. On the palate the wine is lush, full-bodied and sweet, with well-balanced acidity keeping the richness in check
CELLARING
This Pinot Gris makes for beautiful drinking now.
