Church Road Grand Reserve Chardonnay is a blend from our best vineyards in the Tuki Tuki river valley, grown and crafted to deliver a full-bodied yet refined wine. This cooler wine growing district delivers beautifully fragrant Chardonnay with weight, minerality and fresh natural acidity. The 2021 vintage is made with our very best parcels of Chardonnay produced under outstanding conditions at our Tuki Tuki and Terraces Vineyards. The two vineyards make for very complementary blending partners, both enjoying cooling afternoon sea breezes which help to retain fragrance and fresh acidity. These conditions are ideal for Chardonnay, the sole variety grown here on the opposing banks of the Tuki Tuki river.

TASTING NOTES

AROMAS
Fresh, zesty citrus and citrus blossom notes come to the fore this year with riper, richer stone fruit underlying and providing extra depth. The fruit is overlaid with complexities of roasted nuts, toasted brioche and a hint of smoky struck flint.
BODY
This is a full-bodied Chardonnay balanced by gentle, fresh acidity and a spine of slate-like minerality.
CELLARING
Already drinking exceptionally well, with careful cellaring we expect this wine to continue to mature gracefully for six years or more from vintage date. With age, the wine will develop more complex, savoury nuttiness and will gain breadth and richness on the palate.
